My shift just ended. I am too tired to even eat.

Where are you?

It's such a relief to have a few days off. I almost forgot what having free time felt like. I think today I might get some nice strawberry plants to put on the balcony and then I'm going to pop by Hogsmeade. That reminds me, are you working today, Hannah? I really don't fancy walking into Madam Puddifoot's if you're not there.

I think it's going to be a bit of a challenge to think of things to do for the rest of the week. I've been keeping myself busy for barely a day and I'm already feeling a bit restless.

I'm very pleased to hear many of you seem to be doing better. I was getting a bit concerned by the amount of bad luck spreading around these journals, and it's been such a beautiful day today it would have been a real shame to have it tarnished.

As for myself, I am doing reasonably well. Megan's chocolate muffins are a very good for cheering up, and I'm hoping to have a few days off next week to recover from the busy weeks we've had. My superior seemed very pleased by the role I played in the St Mungo's-WWW deal, so I don't think she will refuse me.

And now, let's see if I can think up anything interesting.

Write 5 facts About Yourself

- I have always wanted to learn to speak another language, especially French.
- I am allergic to peanuts.
- When I was little my dad used to take me fishing, and I always got to throw the fish back into the water if he caught something.
- My middle name is Laura.
- I really really dislike the taste of carrots.

It appears my training is a lot more exhausting than I originally thought. Of course, the silly things like trying to find your way around St. Mungo's and learning about all the basic rules and procedures take up a lot of energy, and all the new impressions in general are very overwhelming. The material we are covering is fascinating, however, and I expect (hope!) things will get better in a few weeks when we are properly settled in.

In-between making sure Megan could move in, taking care of our new and very adorable pets and my training, I haven't had much time for anything else, so I hope you'll forgive me for not being around much. Leafing through my journal, it appears I haven't missed much, but please let me know if I have. Oh, and I'm so sorry for forgetting your birthday, Lisa. I hope you had a good one!

Ernie; Megan and I tried to take some pictures of Sparky and Cupcake, but Sparky kept trying to run off, so I can only offer you this for the moment:

Isn't she the cutest? When I picked her at the shop she was really shy and even a bit scared, but I think she's beginning to get used to us now.

[Private to Megan]

I don't even know what to say. It's so terrible. Everyone is saying how sorry they are that he's dead, and all I can think about is how empty those words feel when they are said to you, no matter how much someone might mean them. It's like that summer all over again.

I wish I could do something.

I can't believe how exciting that game was! I don't know much about Quidditch, but it seemed like there were some difficult tactics going on in the sky. I'm just glad it wasn't me up there on a broom. Megan, thanks for dragging me along. I had a great time!

And, to make it even better, when I got home a letter had arrived for me from St. Mungo's. Apparently they were very impressed by my interview and I got accepted into the program! I'm so relieved. Dad didn't seem too pleased when I told him, but I think that's because he was still hoping I'd change my mind about working for the Ministry.

So Dad and I went apartment hunting a few days ago. It was an interesting experience, I have to say. Eventually we managed to find something that isn't too expensive and still looks pretty decent, so that's at least one part of my near future sorted. Yesterday we went back to see what has to be done before I'm able to move in and I took some pictures, as I promised Lisa.

Susan's apartment )

It's just two bedrooms, a kitchen/living room and a tiny bathroom, but I think with a bit of paint and some nice furniture I should be able to turn it into something cosy. Sorry about the second picture, by the way. I'm not really sure what happened there!

Anyway, I was thinking it might be nice to have a room-mate so I'm not completely on my own. Are there any of you coming to live in London who might be interested? How is everyone doing, anyway? It's been far too long since I've seen your faces.
